Skill Building: Elementary and Middle SchoolBooster Camps for Elementary Reading and Math
A hands-on, engaging class designed for students who struggled with, or scored below grade level in, reading or math in grades 3, 4, or 5. Small classes provide two weeks of instruction and guided practice to help students master concepts, have fun learning, and be successful in school next year.

Booster Camps for Middle School Reading and Math
For students who struggled with, or scored below grade level in, reading or math in grades 6, 7 or 8. Small classes provide three weeks of intensive instruction and guided practice to help students master concepts and build confidence. Class is 70 hours: 56 hours of classroom instruction and 14 hours of supporting homework.
Math / Science
* Dates: June 28-July 16 (excluding July 5) and July 19-August 5, M-F
* Times: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Reading / Social Studies
* Dates: June 28-July 16 (excluding July 5) and July 19-August 5, M-F
* Times: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
"Back on Track" High School English and Math
Designed for students who struggled with high school English or Math or did not get the required credit. The focus is on breaking down concepts, providing additional practice, and building confidence. The intensive three week program offers the opportunity to successfully catch up without all of the distractions of the regular school year.
Completion of the "Back on Track" High School programs can be used to recover credit for failed courses, allowing students to continue with their academic classes next year. Permission from the credit-granting school MUST be obtained IN WRITING prior to taking the course to ensure recovery credit will be granted. Class is 70 hours: 56 hours of classroom instruction and 14 hours of required, supporting homework.

Enrichment Programs: Middle and High School
High School Language Arts Enrichment
This week-long program for students entering grades 9-11 focuses on developing critical reading, grammar and vocabulary, with an eye toward preparing for success in higher level English classes and on standardized tests, including the PSAT and the SAT. Class is 15 hours of instruction.

* Times: 1:00 PM - 4:00 PM
Study Skills Workshop
Be ready for the workload of the new school year. This 6-hour workshop includes instruction in organization, note taking, pre-reading and skimming, reviewing key material, and other techniques for improving skills. For students entering/continuing in middle school or high school.
Middle School

High School
* Dates: August 9-11

Special Enrichment Programs
Please sign up for these programs through Davidson Parks and Rec. All classes on this page require a minimum of 6 students:
Herpetology Camp (Rising 6th - 8th Graders)
During this one-week camp, participants will have the opportunity to get up-close and personal with their creepy, crawly, and slithery neighbors! The camp will explore the amphibian and reptile populations in our surrounding environment and take an in-depth look at what makes these creatures so unique.
* Dates: June 21-25, M-F
* Times: 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM
Ornithology Camp (Rising 6th - 8th Graders)
This one-week camp will look to the sky for its inspiration: birds! Participants will have the opportunity to become field biologists that identify birds in our region, dissect owl pellets, construct food chains and webs, and learn to use and construct dichotomous keys. We will explore many different aspects of bird life and environment including (but not limited to): anatomy and physiology, identification, behavior, ecology, and conservation and protection issues.

Creative Writing 101 (Rising 9th - 12th)
This intensive class, part workshop and part seminar, is ideal for students who have been bitten by the writing bug. Designed to help developing authors get their creative juices flowing or to jump-start a writing project they have long had in mind, the class will prompt both complex and creative thinking and will stimulate budding writers by tapping into their inspiration.
